Fashion Friday

One thing we've noticed this Winter is that a lot of you are steering away from the nail salon and are choosing to do your nails at home. Nail polish, just like clothing, shows off your individual personality whether you like to stick with neutral tones, the classic french mani or pedi, or bright, bold colors.

And with that, we thought it be best to show you a couple of our fave, LOW COST nail polishes. Yes, LOW COST. These polish brands supply an array of colors and they last long just as the regular brands without breaking the bank.

S I N F U L C O L O R S is one of these brands. They have seven pages of colors that one can choose from at a whopping $2.50 per bottle! Some of their popular colors are : Cottoncandy, Creampink, Chinagold, Volcanic, and Midnight Blue.

Another site we recommend is Diamond Cosmetics. Their nailpolishes are fab as well and only cost $2 per bottle! Talk about frugal chic! Some of their best colors are Cherry Tobacco, Chainmail Charm, Oh Tiff!, and Not Your "Hum Drum" Plum. They even have some colors that glow in the dark.

Be sure to check out these websites and let us know what you think. Drop a line below!

Fashion Friday : THE WAFFLES GIRLS REVIEW TWILIGHT FASHION!

We all love New Moon. But in our collective Team Edward / Team Teenwolf haze, what often gets lost is the brilliant costume design and fashion you find in these films, which for fashionistas like us, is a real crying shame! So when BFF asked us to drop in for Fashion Friday, we here at Waffles+Falafels didn't hesitate to pick New Moon fashion as our topic of choice, We hope you enjoy our spotlight on these fashion-forward monsters. And if not, just look at the pictures dammit!

Good news for albinos, librarians and those with deathly low blood circulation- tans are out, pale is in! Interested in getting that ghostly gleam? We recommend staying out of the sun for at least 7 weeks or wearing SPF 5millionbilliontrillion to ensure that pasty complexion, because, let's face it; nothing goes better with your weekend outfit than a layer of heavily caked on baby powder. Nothing. - Hillary Bankz

Fashion forecasters and tastemakers have long predicted the inevitable marriage between fashion and technology so it's nice to see the costume department of New Moon really embracing this emerging trend. While still at least a season away from hitting runways, expect to see skin suits like the ones above (in most body types and ethnicities) on the racks of major retailers soon, and don't be surprised if "abs" becomes 2010's must-have look for back to school. - Icey Ana

From the bathroom to the runway, expect to see an emergence of the bathrobe hitting Paris, New York, and London in late 2010. Not only does the bathrobe compliment all figures, it encompasses comfort and style to create a look that is hard to resist. Dust off yours and try it with a skin suit today for a truly classic look. - Hood Charlotte

This season, black is the new black, so the less sleep you get the better, because everyone knows red goes really well with black, and this season red eyes are hot hot hot! Can't function without your beauty sleep? Don't stress, You can stilll achieve this look by throwing dirt in your eyes regularly. - Hillary Bankz

It's rare you see a fashion trend held over from a previous season, or multiple seasons for that matter. But when it does happen, it's pretty safe to say we have the makings of a new classic look on our hands; one that will define a generation. And thanks to Twilight, we finally have it! That's right, the nineties had the Rachel Haircut and we have none other than... the KStew Forehead! Expect soccer moms to start rocking this soon- OH SWEET SKULL! - Icey Ana

Got a take on the Twilight takeover of the fashion industry? Leave a comment and let us know!

xoxo

Fashion Friday

On our recent venture in the world wide web, we stumbled upon a new iPhone app created by NIKE. the description seemed pretty cool but once we saw the video, all of us here at the BFF office wanted to drop everything and use the app NOW! Those of us who didn't have an iPhone wanted to get one immediately, just to use this app.

What's so great about it? Well, not only can you and your BFF design some cool kicks, you can also order them and have them shipped right to you! How cool would it be to have custom kicks designed? You and your BFF could match or you could create it as a gift!

Don't believe us? Check out the video below :

Trust us, you'll be on this thing for hours. Enjoy!

Fashion Friday!

BFFs, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are launching a new, budget friendly clothing line called 'Olsenboye'. The clothing line will be in 600 JCPenney stores across the nation in February. On October 26th, the dynamic duo had their own Olsenboye ice cream truck parking and setting up shop in Union Square.

The line is technically aimed at juniors, but the pieces are so versatile that anyone in their 20's can don it too.
Mary-Kate explains: "It's great that the older customers will be able to enjoy these items too." While Ashley divulged that her favorite pieces are the plaid flannel shirts embossed with the Olsenboye logo across the back. "It's very downtown," she told Stylelist.com.

There's no doubt that this line will prove to be successful, considering that these two gal pals already have 2 high end designer labels in tow, The Row and Elizabeth and James.

Do you and your BFF create cool clothes or have great individual styles?

Let us know & drop a line below!

Fashion Fridays!

BFF Episode 10 contestant, Ariana, thought it be best to give you her awesome ideas on Fall Fashion. Check them out and drop a comment below to let us know what you think!:

Fall is now upon us, and as far as fashion goes, its one if the best times of year. We now have so many more options when it comes to getting dressed because we don’t have to deal with the heat and humidity of summer and the snowy, cold of winter. A lot of fall trends remain relatively the same over the years, with each year adding its own twist. In this blog, I’ll lay out some of the basics and also some things that are specific to fall of ’09.

Let’s start with what’s always rad in fall.

Leather is badass, plain and simple. You don’t want to go overboard with too many pieces, but a jacket is definitely a key item. I’m actually still in search of my perfect leather jacket, but I’ve been dying for one for years. The motorcycle style is really good right now, but anything that suits you individually is really where it’s at.

I’m always into high-waisted things, regardless of season. I have shorts, skirts, jeans, dresses, and pants that are high and really emphasize the waist – always flattering if done right. It’s especially nice when you want to feel feminine but its too cold to show some leg; it will really accentuate or create an hourglass for you.

The color purple is always amazing on pretty much everyone, but it’s the perfect color for fall because you can do bright for a punch of color, or a more muted tone just to add to your fall color palette. It looks great with really any neutral and most other colors. I’m obsessed with it. My nails are purple as I type this. Secret that you may already know: for green eyed ladies (like myself) wearing purple anywhere near your face will make your eyes look sick (in a good way) because it’s the opposite of green on the color wheel. Yall remember that from art class right? If not, just go with me on this and I’ll prove you right ;o)

So for a few things sort of specific to this year, I’ll start with the brights. We have seen a comeback of the neon, day-glo trend, but for fall it leans a little more towards sophistication than shock factor. Bright sneaks are really awesome, as well as accessories, but when it comes to buying say an evening dress, stick with a bright that doesn’t feel like it could be a traffic cone. Fuchsia, magenta, turquoise, etc. are examples. I hope I’m making sense. If not, leave me a really mean comment.

Menswear is huge right now. I couldn’t live without my blazer. The difference between a menswear inspired piece and a regular one is the size proportions. Menswear trend blazer would be a little longer on bottom, and it makes the point if you roll up your sleeves to reveal a kickass lining. You don’t want to be wearing some lame suit jacket; it won’t translate.

Three things: zippers, studs, and sequins. That pretty much covers that!

I don’t want to type your eyes off, so I’ll leave accessories until some other time, but I think this will definitely get you started if you were having doubts. If you read this all the way through, lets be BFFs. I’ll cheat on Sean with you, or hey lets just all be friends. ;o)

xx

Fashion Fridays!

Episode 9 contestants, Laura & Nicole have taken over today's post for Fashion Friday. Below they describe their own personal style and what they think about the other's. Enjoy:

Nicole on Laura: Laura's style? Laura is always telling me that Coco Chanel said, “Before you leave the house, take off one thing.” I think she says that because my outfits stress her out! I like to wear a lot of patterns, and sometimes mix them together… and the rebel that I am, I don’t like to follow the usual fashion rules – no black and brown together etc.

Laura has a very chic, classic style. We are really opposite sometimes – she likes to pair things with black, I like to pair things with white. I like a more eclectic look and she likes a sleeker look. Somehow we still manage to borrow each other’s clothes, all the time. My favorite pair of jeans was stolen from her closet – please don’t tell her (sidenote: well we think it's too late for that NICOLE!), because she has been looking for them for months and hasn’t yet found them. I only wear them when she is out of town, which is hard for me, because they make my butt look great.

Despite our style differences, Laura lets me be her audition stylist. She is always consulting me and my closet for her many random auditions. I like to think of getting dressed as a fun game. Some people take it too seriously, but for me and Laura it is just an organic extension of our personalities and emotions. If I feel flighty I wear some feathers, if I feel cool I wear my chucks, if I feel sick I wear something fancy to make me feel a little better. I like to get dressed up and I like to be dressed down - to end this post – I say - please get dressed every day.

Laura on Nicole: Nicole's Style? YIKES!!!! Since you’re asking, do you know if, “What Not to Wear” on TLC is taking casting calls? Kidding, kidding. I hope Nicole doesn’t read this or I’m banned from her closet for life. I only joke because I steal items from her wardrobe on the daily (except the undies…gross). I admire her style because it can be original and funky, while maintaining a classy look. She’s the type who can walk into sample sale or thrift store, and come out with something glamorous. I don’t have the patience for all that jazz, so I become envious and steal her clothes in return. Shhhh, don’t tell (sidenote: didn't you two realize you'd BOTH be reading this?).

We aren’t always on the same page when it comes to fashion. I’m usually more conscious of matching color with my accessories. Nicole usually likes to be bold and try something different (or whack). Because she has such a natural beauty, she looks great on earthy tones. She can really pull off the vintage style.

Since my three sisters aren’t around in NYC for consultation, Nicole has filled in that role. I value her advice because she watched Gossip Girl, and that’s the only reason.

This post brings tears to our eyes, ... well not really but it really is touching to see how these two gals consider one another's style.

Fashion Fridays!

We here at BFF LOVE fashion and we also love supporting a good cause. So when we see the two come together, we know it’s something worthy to share. “Friends for Fashion” is the title that immediately caught our eyes. As we put BFF Episode 9 on pause (shameless plug), we decided to venture through the website to see what it was about.

FFFFriends for Fashion is a charitable organization, founded in 2003, that dedicates their time to victims of domestic abuse. Since then, the charity has funded over $25,000 in donations. Wow!

How they work: In order to raise money, they collect brand name clothing from retail stores or personal donors and place it on Ebay to sell. Their items range from women, men, and children and they sell their items all over the U.S. as well as Asia, Australia, and Europe.

Proceeds from each sale are placed in a fund to be distributed to the victims in the form of gift cards to local stores. Thus, the women are afforded the opportunity to purchase new clothing for themselves and their children as they begin their lives anew.”

We KNOW you have tons of clothes (some with the price tags still on them) collecting dust in your closet. Why not make it a day with your BFF to rummage through both of your closets and donate to a good cause?

For more information on this organization and their work, check out their official website @ : http://friendsforfashion.com
