Weekend Guide

Going with our Holiday theme of the Weekend Guide, we stumbled upon this article from the Pace Press titled "In No Particular Order, Ten Things to Do During the Holidays". We found it to be a cool list and thought it would be a great idea to share, especially to those who've just wrapped up finals! Enjoy :

The end of the semester is finally in sight. Winter holidays are approaching. Finals are ending. A month-long break is in your future. Life is good. But wouldn't your life be a little better if you had some suggestions for how to spend that long vacation?

10. Catch up. Since the semester is over, you might actually have some time to do what you want in the coming weeks. So make use of that time to do everything you really wanted to do during the semester : Read some books for fun. Go to the movies. You could even get ahead if you buy your books ahead of time and do some reading for next semester's courses (just kidding).

9. Reacquaint yourself with the outside world. Visit your old aunts, tell your friends that you are actually still alive, and find out what happened on your favorite TV show for the last month.

8. See the sights. If you get the chance, don't miss out on your opportunity to be a tourist and visit all the holiday displays around the city. Check out the Rockefeller Center tree. You might even check out the Origami Tree at the Museum of Natural History.

7. Party. Not that you'd procrastinate or anything, but now that you are done staying up until four in the morning writing papers and studying, why not stay up until four in the morning for a good reason? Come on, you know you want to paint the town red, grab a paintbrush!

6. Pad the resume. Do something you can put on your resume to impress prospective employers or grad school admissions committees. Consider getting a short internship at a friend or family member's place of business. Apply for some scholarships. Do some community service. Submit your novel for publication (sorry, English major). You get the idea.

5. Shop. Spend all the money (or all those gift certificates) that you got from whatever winter holiday you celebrate and spend it on cool stuff while you can. Do not wait until the end of break to spend this money. You will feel guilty and buy your books instead of that CD, bag, mp3 player, fill-in-the-blank, that you have been wanting all semester. This is not an appropriate way to spend your holiday cash.

4. Visit family and friends. Spend some time with your family while you can, because if you dorm other opportunities are minimal. While you're at it, why not look up those high school friends you haven't seen since . . . well dates aren't important, just make up for lost time.

3. Travel. Have you been dying to spend New Year's in Vegas? Did you leave your heart in San Francisco the last time you visited? Whatever the reason, if you like to travel, you probably have one or two exciting destinations on your holiday itinerary.

2. Get a job. Perhaps you are tired of being a broke college student. If so, you may want to get a job during your down time off in order to improve your financial situation.

1. Sleep. If you have fantastic time management skills, this might surprise you, but catching up on sleep is in fact the number one thing students want to do during their time off. So, much like a hibernating bear, you might want to try to stock up on sleep now before another cycle of papers and exams begins next semester.

On our weekend guide, we gave you & your bff(s) an awesome holiday party to throw which we titled, "Ugly Christmas Sweater Holiday Party". You + friends + Ugly Sweaters and a camera ... could there be anything better?! Weekend Guide

In light of the Holiday Season, we here at BFF thought it would be best to surround this month's weekend guides with things that encompass the holiday theme. Last week we gave you a great Girls' Holiday Night out idea and for this weekend (for those of you who dare), you and your BFF(s) can set up an Ugly Christmas Sweater Holiday Party!

Decorate the house with some cute and funky holiday decoration. Cook up some good food or if you are on a budget, have your friends bring the food and you provide the drinks or vice versa. You can print up cute invitations or even send out e-invites through awesome sites such as pingg.com. Make sure you note the one, absolute rule : everyone MUST come in an ugly Christmas sweater. If not, then what's the point of having the party?! Imagine all of the hilarious pictures you and your friends will be able to laugh at for years!

Cooking food and decorating sounding like too much work? For those of you 21 and over, you can even opt for an Ugly Christmas Sweater Holiday Bar - Hop. The laughs will increase as all of you will be seen in ugly sweaters out in public!

Let us know what you have planned for this weekend. Drop a line below!

Weekend Recap - Part 2

Let's recap the ending of this past week on the BFF blog! Get ready 'cause we're starting NOW :

Guest blogger Sammi Hanratty from the family film, "The Greening of Whitney Port" stole the mic on Celebrity Wednesday as she shared with us how her and her BFF Kaitlyn met and how they became such great BFFs!

Thursday's Weekend Guide gave you a fab idea on what you and your girls can be doing this weekend : Girls' Night Holiday Party. Eat some dinner (whether at your place or at your favorite restaurant), make some chic cocktails at home, pop in your favorite Holiday movie, and the most important key to making this party AWESOME : don't forget to invite us!

REBELDNCE was featured on Fashion Friday. It's a line created by new and upcoming designer, MaiKhanh Bertrand. The line is for those described as 'urban nomads' and the bold prints and style will definitely make one stand apart from the crowd.

And that, is our weekend recap of this past week's BFF blog posts.

Enjoy, as tomorrow sets a brand new week of posts!

Weekend Guide

Stumped on what you and your BFF could be doing this weekend? Well don't worry, that's what we're here for! Every week we'll be giving you and your BFF ideas on some fun things to do this weekend.

Today's idea is : Girls' Night Holiday Party

What a perfect reason to tie the Holiday's with your BFFS! Leave the holiday stress behind and gather up your girls as you wine & dine and enjoy some last minute gift wrapping together! Here's a mock up itinerary for the night. Feel free to change it the way that best fits for you and your friends :

1. Start the night off by having dinner. You can provide a home cooked meal, in which your friends can help and bring dishes as well OR you can dine at one of your favorite restaurants. Usually a lively place like Applebees, TGIFridays, a steakhouse, etc. are prime choices.

2. Bring the girls back to the house and you guys can whip up your very own holiday cocktails. The best thing to do is to Google cocktail recipes. Some search terms include "Party cocktails", "Holiday cocktails", etc.

3. Another cute idea would be for you and your gal pals to collaborate on some Holiday traditions, such as creating a Gingerbread house or even baking some fun holiday cookies!

4. Watch Holiday movies. Heat some popcorn and pop in a DVD. You can either rent a movie, or tell your BFFS to each bring one of their face Holiday movies and you all can decide then!

Dinner + Fun Cocktails + Holiday Treats + Movies = FUN FUN FUN!

Can it get any better? ;)

Have some ideas of your own? Feel free to drop us a line below!

Weekend Guide

Looking for something to do this weekend with the BFF? Well don't worry, we've got you covered. Every Thursday, we'll be supplying you with an overload of ideas on what you, the BFF, and anyone else can do to ensure that your weekend isn't a total dud.

Seeing as New Moon is coming out, my friends and I got on the topic about all the books we read and even all the book hype we joined in on, including Twilight. It got me thinking ... why not start a book club? Don't yawn! With a book club, you can choose any type of books that you and your friends love to read, whether it be mystery, drama, etc. Following an article from Teenreads.com, here are some nifty tips on how to get your book club started:

  • contact all of your pals - the easiest way to get a book club started is by contacting all of your friends or fam (such as cousins) who enjoy reading. You can also post up handmade posters on your school's or library's local bulletin board.
  • make sure the people who contact are really dedicated to reading and that your group consists of 8 - 12 members. You don't want a group too big because discussion will be hard but you also want a good amount so if some members don't show up, you'll still have a good sized group.
  • Remember: You're hear to share your thoughts and opinions on the book. NOT TO GOSSIP! (you can save that for after the meeting)
  • Once you've got your club going, you might want to set some ground rules to keep things running smoothly. It might be a good idea to appoint a secretary who keeps track of your book lists (both what you've read and what you plan to read) and sends out reminders about your meetings.
It might sound like hard work, but your book club will be a lot of fun once set and it's something you can take part in all year around, rain or shine.

Weekend Guide

Our Weekend Guide usually gives you cool ideas on what you and your BFF can plan to do for the weekend. But we decided to put a little twist to this. On our MySpace page, we hold American Apparel BFF T-shirt giveaways every couple of days. As we give away these T-shirts, some of our fans decide to take pictures of themselves wearing their BFF tees as they roamed around town. So since we love our fans, we decided to show off some of their pics! Enjoy!

Weekend Guide

It's your BFF's birthday, or your BFF is moving, or you just want to create a gift for your BFF from the heart. Well, we've got a solution for you. Why not use the weekend to create a scrapbook for your BFF? You can do it as a solo project or double the fun by asking your BFF to join in and create some pages. Here are some guidelines on how we think the Ultimate BFF Scrapbook should be done:

1. The cover should contain a pic of the BOTH of you - this is not the time to be vain, Vainy McVainerson.

2. Decorate however you please. The best solution is to use some of you and your BFF's favorite colors in the form of glitter pens, construction paper, markers, and for those challenged in the drawing field: stickers or cut-outs from magazines!

3. Dedicate a page or two to detail the activities you like to do together. We know you have a ton from your Facebook photo shoots, so why not add those? Also include pictures from other events such as birthday parties, chillin' by the pool, having fun at a theme park, etc.

4. QUOTES! - Quotes can be aligned within the pages or you can even have a page dedicated to quotes, such as inside jokes that only you two share, or BFF quotes. There's a TON of sites dedicated to BFF quotes, so do a simple google search and you'll have millions at your finger tips. You can even add a lyric to your favorite song.
Our favorite quote happens to be: "A friend is one who knows us, but loves us anyway." - Fr. Jerome Cummings

5. Stick on items that remind you of your BFF or the good times you shared, such as movie stubs, notes passed during class (obviously the ones the teacher didn't keep), funny drawings, etc.

6. Don't forget your crushes page. (We KNOW you have at least one pic of your crush whether he knows of it or not) It's always funny to look at the famous and non-famous crushes you and your BFF had. You never know, 2 years from now, that hot guy in Math may not be so hot anymore.

And there you have it. Be sure to check out a brand new episode of BFF airing tomorrow @ : http://MySpace.com/BFF.

Weekend Guide

Today's post comes from special guest, Melissa Klein, a contributor for Celebrations.com. Her idea is something we're sure all of you fashionistas would LOVE, and it's still budget friendly so you won't have to break the bank! Check it out yourselves:

Sex & the City Move In Celebration!

This past May my best friend Leora and I graduated college. A few months later she’s just started a great job and landed herself a gorgeous NYC apartment, while I’ve decided to finish up my schooling all together and go for my Master’s. With all the hard work we’ve been doing, I realized how little down time we have to enjoy each other’s company.

My biffle and I need a break from the hustle and bustle of adult living, so I decided that this weekend, work can wait while we take advantage of her new pad and host a apartment warming cocktail party. I’m inviting a few of our closest friends for finger foods galore, delicious girly drinks and a date with the 4 best gal pals ever - Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte.

This weekend’s bash takes its inspiration from mine and my BFF’s favorite TV show - Sex and the City! We’re anticipating the sequel to last year’s hit movie and I thought, what better way to unwind than with our favorite fictional gal pals?

Celebrations.com has an awesome article that offers drink recipes based off the show’s characters. From the classic cosmo to a chocolatini inspired by Charlotte, there’s something for everyone. We’re kicking back and playing the show’s trivia game as we sip our cocktails. The night ends with the Sex & the City movie and a sweet treat! I’m whippin’ up some pink lemonade cupcakes we can indulge in as we watch the girls on the big screen.

A girls night with the biffle never needs a reason, so this weekend host a similar bash with your friends.

Tidbits on Melissa : A native New Yorker and aspiring writer, Melissa currently attends Pace University where she is working towards her Masters degree in Publishing. When she isn't at school, Melissa enjoys cooking for friends and family, hosting parties for any reason, and dancing the night away. For more articles by Melissa, visit her: Profile.

PSST, and don't forget a new episode of BFF will be airing LIVE tomorrow @ MySpace.com/BFF

Weekend Guide

One of our BFF fans asked what could she throw for her and her friends, to just hang out, gossip, and relax? After doing some research we came to one solution: At Home Spa Party. An At Home Spa Party is a chic way to spend quality time with the girls without breaking a budget.

Celebrations.com offered these amazing tid-bits on how you can run a successful At Home Spa Party:

The most important element to a successful at-home spa party lies in the beauty treatments. Set up individual stations with comfortable seating, clear work surfaces and easy-to-view mirrors. Make sure you have four basic stations ready to go, then add others as budget and time allows.

  • hair
  • skin
  • make up
  • manicure/pedicure

Stock each one with a variety of products (collect free samples or buy trial sizes to save money) and directions on treatments or makeup applications.

If your budget allows, consider bringing in a mobile spa to take care of all the details and beauty treatments for you.

There is no need for a sit-down dinner during an at-home spa party, but do plan to serve a variety of finger foods and bite-sized treats like these:

  • turkey/ham roll ups
  • chips & dip
  • fruit
  • mini cheesecakes
  • mini pastries

Once the party gets started, everyone will be busy indulging in spa treatments. Serve appetizers as guests arrive and mingle, then save the desserts for the end. By serving appetizers, food stays separate from beauty products so you can concentrate on getting the most out of each spa treatment without worrying about accidents.

Of course, drinks should be available throughout the night; and cosmopolitans are the perfect drinks for girl’s night out. Add pink daiquiris and chocolate martinis to create a tempting selection of girl cocktails. For a non-alcoholic option, try fruity sodas in old-fashioned glass bottles.

As you and your girlfriends wait for nail polish to dry, face masks to set, and deep conditioner to soak in, you might want something to keep you entertained.

A stack of gossip and fashion magazines encourages chit-chat for an ultimate girls' night out.

After the pampering is complete, settle down with one of these classic chick flicks.

Another idea is that you and your Gal Pals can also catch up on all of your favorite BFF episodes @ : MySpace.com/BFF. A new episode will air live tomorrow so be sure to check it out!

Weekend Guide

Sometimes the weather can put a damper on plans and all of us here at BFF knows what it feels like to be stuck home with nothing to do. That is why we decided to compile a list of things that you and your BFF (or just you) can do and NOT do while you’re stuck at home.

Things To Do:

1. Take pictures – How else do you think those lovely MySpace/Facebook profile pictures get created?

2. Movie Marathon - Movies are the perfect excuse to snuggle up on the couch all day. Hey, at least you’re doing something.

3. Recycle Old Magazines - Use this time to cut out all of the “useful” information from the magazines you’ve collected and then recycle what’s left after.

4. Go Shopping - Rainy days = Less crowded mall. A lot of people tend to stay home when it rains therefore, no more elbow nudges, or the girl in front of you getting the last size you wanted.

Things NOT to do on a rainy day:

1. Call your ex – he’s your EX for a reason. Don’t make boredom an excuse to rehash old flames.

2. Sleep from 10 AM to 10 PM – what a waste of a day! You’re merely waking up to either go back to sleep or to watch infomercials late night.

3. Organize anything that belongs to your brother or your dad – because it’ll only get unorganized in a matter of minutes. So don’t even bother.

4. Eat your way through an entire bag of Cheetos Puffs – you’ll regret it when its time to buy those new pair of skinny jeans.

5. Attempt to give yourself bangs – because bangs are supposed to be even in length, not triangular, love.

And lastly,

6. DO NOT CALL YOUR EX! – call your BFF instead ;).

BTW what did you think of yesterday's episode of BFF? : BFF.tv
