TREND ALERT! : Nail Polish

Don’t you just hate when your freshly painted manicure gets that first chip? Well now you can look forward to that moment as it is the hottest new look for 2010! BYS’S new line, CRACKED nail polish, creates tiny fractures amongst the surface of the polish, resulting in a cool crackled look. Our favorite is the black polish which “cracks” with contrasting hot pink lines.

Obviously, something this cool has to have a catch- it is currently only available in Australia. Keep your eyes peeled though, because we are sure this product will find its way to the U.S. soon!

On the Radar: Going Green

Lately, the BP oil spill has been on the forefront of everyone's minds. With images of oil-plagued beaches and helpless sea animals all around us, it's hard not to ask: what can I do to help the environment? Unfortunately, jumping the first flight to Louisiana to participate in the relief efforts simply isn't an option for many of us. So what's a girl to do?

The most important thing to remember is that even small changes can make a HUGE difference! Some simple ideas include purchasing reusable grocery bags, unplugging your phone charger when you are not using it, and turning off the water when brushing your teeth. We decided to share some of our personal environment-saving efforts with you:

Megan: I always save my shopping bags so I can reuse them as trash can liners. I haven't bought actual trash bags in years! I also bought black-out curtains that I use during the summer. Whenever I leave my apartment, I close the curtains to block out all sunlight. This greatly reduces my need for air conditioning and alleviates my energy bill each month!

Danielle: I am big on saving the environment and conserving energy. Some of my efforts are I always shut off my lights when leaving the house, unplug all electronics when not using, and I try to reuse water bottles whenever I can.

We'd love to hear about your methods to "go green". And, as always, don't forget to involve your BFF in your efforts to save our planet!

"How my BFFs Made Me Who I am" by Joanna Philbin

When I was twelve years old, my life utterly changed. I started going to an all-girls school. I didn’t know what to expect, because I’d never gone to school JUST with girls. I was a little worried - would I make a BFF

Actually, I made a whole bunch of BFFs. The friends I made in seventh, eighth, and ninth grade not only became my friends for life, but they helped me become the person I am today. My friend Christina taught me how to be fearless. My friend Mariah taught me how to laugh at myself. My friend Laura taught me how to be friends with guys. My friend Charlotte taught me how to push myself to achieve. These girls were wildly different from one another, but bonded by an overwhelming sense of loyalty and love. These girls brought me out of my shell, taught me to be brave, and reminded me that I would always be appreciated for who I was. And now whenever I go home to New York, there are always dinners and lunches where we get together, catch up, and laugh until we almost can’t chew our food.

It was these friendships that inspired me to write my new YA (Young Adult) series, The Daughters. The lead characters are fourteen year-old BFFs who all have one important thing in common: each of them is the daughter of a super-famous parent. They may not be exactly alike, but they see each other through all the highs and lows of living part of their lives in the glare of the public eye, and inspire each other to keep going.

That’s what my friends did for me when I was fourteen.  And they still do it for me today.

- Joanna

Get the Look!

Meet Marina and George! This casual-cool British duo was spotted enjoying the warm weather in Washington Square Park in NYC, and we simply could not pass up the opportunity to talk to them about their fabulous fashion.

Marina credits Stella McCartney as one of her main fashion influences. She tends to search out feminine pieces, such as these gorgeous shoes by DKNY. When we questioned George about his fashion favorites, Marina was quick to answer for her BFF: "James Bond!"  George dismissed this with a laugh and went on to share his true feelings: "Tom Ford is the coolest designer out there!"  He also believes that there is nothing quite like British tailoring to perfect an outfit.

To get Marina's look, dare to break free from traditional matching.  Mix patterns and contrasting colors to really make an outfit pop.  Most importantly, wear confidence like it is your best accessory!  Both Marina and George carried themselves with grace and poise- there is nothing more attractive than confidence!

Think you've got some cool styles that you'd love for us to showcase? Send us an e-mail at info@bff.tv!

Happy Father's Day!

 Megan with her Dad

In honor of Father's Day, BFF Entertainment wanted to share with you a story about an incredible family. Megan Patton is a 16 year old who's heart will always be with the army. Megan's dad is CSM Gregory E. Patton and he has been in the military for 26 and a half years. He is now in Afghanistan on his fourth deployment.

Megan's brother, James

Keeping the military pride alive, Megan's brother, James, enlisted in the Army for 6 years. Unfortunately, on April 18, 2010 James was killed in a helicopter accident in Northern Iraq during military operations. He is survived by his wife, Beatriz, and their daughter, Cecilia, who is 16 months old.

Megan and her family have stuck together through thick and thin. To show her support for the troops, Megan has signed up to receive a pair of BFF Bracelets. This pair of bff bracelets will help create a bond of awareness and appreciation for our baff’s (best armed forces friends)! And as a gift to Megan, we were able to match her with her Dad! 25% of all proceeds will be donated to the American Freedom Foundation. To sign up, please head over to http://bff.tv.

Don't forget to give your Dad a very special hug today!

5 Beauty Products Worth the Splurge, by Lauren Cosenza of Divalicious

As host of Divalicious blog (http://divaliciousblog.com), I am constantly testing new products - from every beauty brand at every beauty price point. I happen to think that more often than not, you can use whatever you’ve got to get gorge so long as you pull out your application tricks and technique.

Having said that, there are a few key beauty items you should never skimp on. Ever.

And on National Splurge day, I encourage you to do just that - SPLURGE. Because for these particular products, your beauty ROI (return on investment) will eliminate any post-purchase guilt.

You really should spend a lil extra on these quality goods…

1. Primer – If you don’t prime your canvas, you can’t expect the final artwork to look flawless. And I’m talking flawless upon application and flawless hours later. There is a reason all makeup artists begin with primer. I personally love MAC Matte and MAC Prep + Prime Skin. MAC Matte is ideal for women with combination/oily skin or anyone looking to achieve an even, matte face especially in the summer. MAC Prep + Prime Skin is amazing on all skin types as the first step preceding foundation, powder and concealer in your daily makeup routine.

2. BrushesQuality brushes = quality application. Great brushes have the ability to make even not-so-great product look much MUCH better. It’s all about placement and blending… if you have the right tools. I love Smashbox, Stila, MAC and Jane Iredale brushes. Check out your local department store or a nearby Sephora where you will find a wide variety of different brushes for different uses. Invest in the brushes that will best suit your regimen. For example, if you only wear sheer lipgloss, don’t spend on a nice lipbrush. And if you prefer to pat concealer over a blemish with a finger, don’t buy a concealer brush. But for a smokey eye, if that’s the look you want, there are many brushes to aid in achieving it.
3. Concealer – I use all different concealers on myself and on clients. Some are creams, some are liquids, some are sticks. The key with concealer is to go slightly lighter than your perfect-match skin shade so whether you use powder or foundation it will still cover and/or brighten areas that are imperfect. Plus, there are also correcting concealers that apply color theory (i.e. green to camouflage redness) to fix more prominent problem areas. MAKEUP FOR EVER has great correcting color palettes.

4. Eye Shadow – When it comes to color, you usually have to pay a little more for a true, saturated shade payoff. Here’s why. If you fall in love with the perfect grey or green in its container, don’t you want to see that identical grey or green on your face – and not its diluted and drab cousin?! That requires a better formulation with more intense pigments. Pay for it. Otherwise, you are left admiring pretty colors in your makeup bag but not on your face. The color investment is, hands down, best spent on eye shadow. I recommend Bare Escentuals shadow for quality loose pigments that still won’t break the bank. Just remember when using loose powder to always tap and dust your brush before applying.

5. Lipstick – As with anything that gets THISCLOSE to your mouth, it should smell good, it should taste good, it should look good, it should feel good. Girls, consider that gospel! So shop around for lipsticks that do all of the above. It should have a pleasing or nonexistent scent, it should have a delicious or unnoticeable taste, it should make you look like a million bucks and it should make you feel like a billion more. And if it’s not going to stick around for a while, it doesn’t deserve your fine lips to begin with. Lipsticks I’m currently obsessing over include the BFF-approved Lip Lights, Shiseido Perfect Rouge, NARS Lipstick and YSL Rouge Pure Shine.

Where to shop, you ask??

Your local Bloomies or Sephora, or online at, maccosmetics.com, bareescentuals.com and *of course* BFFBeautyShop.com.

Happy splurging!!
xoxx, Lauren

You, Mom, & The AFF

It is no secret that mothers and daughters share a special kind of bond. Isn't it amazing how we can go from bickering with our mothers over trivial matters (I can't believe you embarrassed me in front of my crush!) to celebrating the fact that your mom is ... your mom (Thanks for having my back, Mom)? Because let's face it, chances are Dad won't remember what your favorite shade of lip gloss is.

But now, with BFF, you and Mom can redirect your energy to a more...positive... effort and connect with a new BFF overseas by purchasing a set of BFF bracelets! 25% of the proceeds will go to the American Freedom Foundation (AFF).

Kelly Killoren Bensimon from Bravo's "The Real Housewives of NYC" and daughter, Sea, are BFF's who just signed up for a new BFF! Watch as they discuss the initiative:

BFF Beauty with Lauren of Divalicious Blog

It’s Best Friends Week and as host of Divalicious blog ( http://divaliciousblog.com ),  I can tell you for sure this diva would all but die without her girlfriends!!

And while I get to play in a cosmetic candyland of makeup, skincare, haircare and fragrance, I can also tell you with certainty that there's nothing more beautiful than friendship.

Being with your best friend always brings out your best smile (nope, it’s not the one you perfected for facebook pics) and laughing over something hilarious makes your skin more radiant than the finest exfoliant. It’s natural beauty that doesn’t take an hour of contouring, bronzing and highlighting. You could even say having a BFF is your beauty secret weapon.

And it's goes much deeper than honest answers to "do I have lipstick on my teeth" "do these jeans make my butt look big" or "does my hair look frizzy"…

Having a BFF skyrockets your confidence. And feeling good translates to looking good. All eyes always go to the girl who knows she’s got it going on.

Having a BFF allows you to see yourself from the eyes of someone who loves you unconditionally. Maybe that feature you’ve always been self-conscious about is the thing that your BFF loves most about you and thinks makes you unique. Even if you may have insecurities about individual flaws, your BFF sees the beauty in your total package. And she’s not gonna allow you to obsess over something only you can see or notice.

Having a BFF means you’ve got someone in your corner. She’s got your back. And that means, no more frown lines or furrowed brows. Believe me, you’ll thank her for that as you get older.

And, of course, a huge part of friendship is appreciation. Your best friend appreciates you as you are and for who you are.

So it makes sense that BFF.tv has partnered up with the American Freedom Foundation as a tribute to, and a sign of appreciation for, our “far away friends.” By purchasing a BFF bracelet for only $10 dollars, an identical one is sent to a member of the armed forces and 25% of proceeds go towards the foundation.

Make this the week to show friends, both near and far, how much they matter to you.

Don't forget to check out BFF Beauty for some great gifts you can get your BFF for Best Friends Week!

Everyone here at BFF would love to give a special thanks to ... YOU! Thank you all for supporting us through thick and thin, but hey, that's what BFFs are for, right? ;)

Not sure what these bracelets are? Then head over here. It's what everyone is talking about. We’ve created a pair of special bff bracelets that will create that bond of awareness and appreciation for our “Best Armed Forces Friends”! 25% of the proceeds from your purchase ($10 for both bracelets!) will be donated to the American Freedom Foundation (AFF).

National Best Friends Day!

Yesterday, June 8th, was National Best Friends Day. Thank you to everyone who came out to Times Square to show their support. We couldn't of done it without you.

As many of you may know, BFF celebrates the unique and unconditional support friends have for each other through good times and bad. In honor of Best Friends Day we’ve paired up with the American Freedom Foundation to help connect us to the amazing men and women who represent the United States military today!

We’ve created a pair of special bff bracelets that will create that bond of awareness and appreciation for our “Best Armed Forces Friends”!

Wearing these bracelets symbolizes not only an acknowledgment of support for their efforts on behalf of our country but a connection and friendship that bridges perspectives…and 25% of the proceeds from your purchase ($10 for both bracelets!) will be donated to the AFF.

America Ferrera shows her support for our initiative in this amazing outreach she did for us in the video below. In fact she is in a soon to be released film called “The Dry Land” which opens in July that deals with some of the issues that our military men and their families face each and every day.

To get your BFF Bracelet, please head over to our BFF Bracelet page.

Don't go too far. A recap of Best Friends day will be up soon!

"I'll fight with you...."

With Best Friends Day just around the corner (3 days!), take a moment to reflect on all of the times that your BFF has stood by your side when life threw you lemons.  When times get tough, there is truly nothing better than having the support of your best friend.  Even the scariest of obstacles can seem conquerable when your BFF is ready to tackle it with you.  While racing to the airport to stop your best friend from fleeing the country in the heart of a scandal (a la Serena van der Woodsen) may seem a bit dramatic, the sentiment is what matters.

P.S. Blair and Serena's make-up looks flawless!  Learn how to achieve the look at BFF Beauty Shop

BFF Beauty with Lauren of Divalicious Blog

I'm Lauren Cosenza, host of Divalicious Blog (http://divaliciousblog.com) and your BFF Beauty expert. Being a BFF Beauty expert means I know a thing or two about friendship and a thing or two about beauty. And believe me when I say a girl's gotta have both in her life.

What I love about these BFFs, Ana & Gabby, is that they have fun taking chances. (Isn't every girl a little bolder when she's got her BFF there?!)

They both love the bronze bombshell look, especially for summer, but don’t want to damage their gorgeous skin by baking in the sun or worse, on tanning beds. On the flip side, even though it's just cosmetic, a fake tan gone wrong is no joke. You can end up streaky, splotchy, smelly, sorta orange-y and soooooo not natural. But with Gabby there, Ana got a Tan in a Can LIVE on-camera. Watch what happens!!
